This necklace contains antique seed beads saved from a warehouse and an uncertain future and they have come to my door. All were made between 1800 and 1920. It includes several striped and opaque seed beads in different sizes. It includes white heart beads (inside glass is white) in yellow seeds and red tubes with bigger seed beads in green, turquoise and brown opaque colors. These are Italian and French, a part of a collection of the Societe Venezianna Contiente and Eclats De Perle stock. Vintage brass openwork beads and handmade brass bicone beads along with yellow and red vintage wound glass beads surround an incredible vintage black and red cinnabar bead in the middle strand. It made its way from Hong Kong along with the smaller yellow cinnabar bead in the earlly 1980s but both are most certainly older than that. The trade beads have been with me through many travels and their bright colors of yellows, reds, blues and greens are always a pleasure to look at. These are very old beads also. First used for trade and made usually in Venice or Czech and used for trade in Africa and sent on to the Hudson Bay Company. Then trade beads really started hitting the west in the 60's and 70's as more people were traveling and bringing home treasures from their adventures. They are strung on all three strands. The bone beads are from vintage finds and cleaned. The strands are 26"/ 66cm, 19"/ 48cm and 17"/ 43cm long. The beads are strung on 1mm/ 1/8" brown leather cord and are gathered together at the end and fitted with sterling silver cone beads and my handmade sterling silver hook and jumpring clasp. This is a one of a kind necklace. It will arrive in a gift box with colorful tissue and lovely ribbons. All measurements are approx.
